BALING: A 39-year-old man died after losing consciousness while descending from the summit of Gunung Baling today.
Baling Fire and Rescue Department chief Mohd Jamil Mat Daud said a rescue team was despatched following distress calls regarding the incident at 12.13pm.
He said the team found the victim unconscious at a height of 200m above sea level.
"The victim was fell unconscious while descending the mountain with friends, and the rescue team climbed to the location where the victim was located.
"However, the victim was confirmed dead by medical officers from the Health Ministry," he said in a statement today.
Jamil said the body of the man was later handed over to police for further action.
He added that the body will be sent to Kulim Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
