'Please reduce my bail, I have cats to feed'

SHAH ALAM: A man who pleaded guilty to drug possession at the Shah Alam magistrate's court has pleaded for a lower bail amount, citing the need to feed his cats among others.

According to the charge sheet, the accused, Erwan Abdul Ghani was charged with possession of 4.3 grams of marijuana at a house in Kampung Paya Jaras, Sungai Buloh, last Tuesday.

The charge under Section 6 of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 carries a jail term of up to five years, a maximum fine of RM20,000, or both upon conviction.

Deputy Public Prosecutor, Nurul Farah Sofea Norazman proposed bail be set at RM8,000 for the accused who was unrepresented.

The man then pleaded for a lower bail.

"I hope the bail can be reduced as I have many commitments including cats that need to be fed," the man said.

Magistrate Sasha Diana Sabtu set bail at RM3,800 with one surety and set June 7 for sentencing.
