BATU PAHAT: The elder sister of Bella or Mila Sharmila Samsusah, who was allegedly murdered by her boyfriend, was detained by the police early this morning.

The 37-year-old woman was apprehended when she appeared at the Batu Pahat police headquarters (IPD) to have her statement taken regarding a police report made against her for allegedly violating the Child Act 2001.

It is understood that the report was filed by a family member of a child believed to be adopted, claiming that Bella's sister had posted pictures of the child, while broadcasting live on TikTok recently.

Bella's sister was taken to the Batu Pahat magistrate's court today, accompanied by her two lawyers, Nur Aminahtul Mardiah Md Nor and Nurul Hafidzah Hassan.

Magistrate Nurasidah A Rahman granted the woman a one-day remand starting today to assist in the police investigation.

It is learnt that Bella's sister had just arrived in Batu Pahat at 2.30am after breaking fast at her late father's relative's house in Kuala Selangor.

While on her way home, she was contacted by the police to appear at the police state to provide her statement before being detained in the lockup.

Meanwhile, lawyers Nur Aminahtul Mardiah Md Nor and Nurul Hafidzah Hassan, who were present during the remand proceedings, said their client was remanded for one day after the court rejected the investigating officer's application for a three-day remand.

They said their client is being investigated under Section 15(2)(a) of the Child Act 2001 for allegedly using a child's image in connection with a crime.
