Suspected robber killed in high-speed chase in Kuala Kedah

ALOR STAR: A suspected robber was killed on the spot when his motorcycle was mowed down by his would-be victim's car during a high-speed chase in Kuala Kedah early this morning.

Kota Setar district police chief Assistant Commissioner Ahmad Shukri Mat Akhir said the incident unfolded in front of a pharmacy in Kuala Kedah about 6.39am when the victim was driving alone.

"The victim claimed that three men riding on two separate motorcycles tried to rob him, with one of them smashing the car windscreen using an object.

"Out of fear for his safety, the driver tried to speed off and during the process, he mowed down one of the motorcycles that he claimed was trying to block his car.

"As a result of the crash, the 29-year-old motorcyclist was killed at the scene while his two accomplices fled," he said in a statement.

He added police are in the process of tracking down the two suspects who are still at large.

The case is being investigated under Section 302 and 393 of the Penal Code.
