Kelantan Customs officer, agricultural assistant officer nabbed for drug abuse

KOTA BARU: A state Customs officer and an agricultural assistant officer were detained by the police in possession Epam pills and ketum juice recently.

Kelantan police chief Datuk Muhamad Zaki Harun said the 42-year-old agricultural assistant officer was arrested in Machang on March 18.

"The officer was detained at Jalan Risda about midnight three days ago on possession 1.5 litres of ketum juice.

"The man tested positive for drug and has two previous criminal records. He has been remanded for four days to assist police investigation into the case," he said in a statement today.

Zaki said the customs officer, 34, was arrested with five Epam pills in Kampung Cabang Tiga near Pasir Mas on March 14.

"Also seized from the man in the midnight operation was a Proton Persona worth about RM10,000."

The man also tested positive for drugs and has one previous record.

"He has been remanded for four days to assist police's investigation," he added.

In another case, Zaki said a 29-year-old Thai man was detained in possession of 4,000 methamphetamine pills worth RM60,000 on March 17.

He was arrested near Pohon Jambu illegal jetty about noon and has been remanded for seven days to facilitate investigation.
