KULIM: A 57-year-old man has been arrested in connection to the murder of his wife whose body showed signs of abuse.
In a statement, Kulim district police chief Mohd Azizul Mohd Khairi said they received a police report on the 61-year-old woman's death on Tuesday.
The woman passed away hours earlier at the Kulim hospital where she was warded after supposedly suffering a fall in the bathroom.
Checks found that the woman had a head injury and bruises on her face and body. The autopsy indicated that she had new and old injuries caused by domestic abuse.
Her husband was subsequently arrested and has been remanded until Monday to facilitate investigations.
The case is being probed under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder which carries the death penalty or a jail term of between 30 to 40 years.
