KLIA shooting suspect says he will need 'at least seven lawyers' to defend him

KOTA BARU: The suspect involved in the shooting at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) on Sunday said he would need at least seven lawyers to represent him.

Hafizul Harawi, 38, said this when approached by reporters after leaving the Kota Baru magistrates court this morning.

Clad in purple lock-up attire, he said he would find the lawyers soon.

"I will definitely need many lawyers, or at least seven," he said while being escorted to the police vehicle.

Earlier, police today obtained a seven-day remand order against the suspect.

The remand order was obtained at the Kota Baru magistrates court this morning before magistrate Rais Imran Hamid.

The suspect arrived at the court complex in Tunjong at about 8.40am, heavily escorted by several policemen.

He is expected to be brought to Kuala Lumpur this afternoon.

In the 1.30am incident on Sunday, a man fired two shots, one of which hit his wife's bodyguard.

The victim is currently being treated at a hospital and is reported to be in stable condition.
