Trees uprooted in PJ, KL during storm

KUALA LUMPUR: Heavy rain and strong winds resulted in uprooted trees in several parts of the city and Petaling Jaya.

The Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) in a Facebook post said at trees were uprooted at the Sprint Highway.

"Uprooted trees at KM7.6 heading north from Kerinchi to Damansara. The left and middle lanes are blocked.

"Traffic congestion about 2KM at the location. Users are advised to take alternative routes."

It is learnt that uprooted trees were also reported at Jalan Pantai Permai near Kerinchi, Jalan Bukit Pantai near Air Selangor headquarters and at Jalan Barat in Section 8, Petaling Jaya.

Facebook user Ang Soo Huey shared a photo of an uprooted tree in Jalan Gasing in Petaling Jaya, near Petron petrol station.

Facebook Block C Pantai Ria, shared few photos of uprooted trees crashing onto at least three cars at the housing area.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department said a tree was uprooted at 6.19pm at Km1.4 along Jalan Templer heading towards Jalan Klang Lama

"The operation commander reported there is a tree which fell on a car. It did not involve any victim," it said in an initial report.

A team from the Jalan Pencala Fire and Rescue station were dispatched to the location.
