Saifuddin on three-day working visit to Indonesia

PUTRAJAYA: Foreign Minister Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah will make a working visit to Jakarta, Indonesia from tomorrow to July 23.

This is his first working visit abroad after being appointed a minister under the Pakatan Harapan government on July 2.

He will be accompanied by officials from the ministry.

Wisma Putra said the visit would be a continuation to Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad's official visit to Jakarta on June 28 and 29.

“During the visit, Saifuddin will be meeting his counterpart, Ibu Retno L.P. Marsudi and discuss bilateral issues and cooperation, as well as to explore new strategic collaboration regionally and internationally for mutual benefit,” it said in a statement today.

Saifuddin is scheduled to pay a courtesy call on the Indonesian President Joko Widodo; meet Malaysian students in Jakarta; meet the Speaker of the House of Representatives (DPR) as well as a few local non-governmental organisations.

“The foreign minister will also be joining the roundtable discussion at Centre for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS).

“This visit is expected to strengthen the already strong bonds of friendship between Malaysia and Indonesia for the prosperity of the rakyat of both countries,” Wisma Putra added.
