Ismail Sabri to parents: No need police approval, just letter from school [NSTTV]

KUALA LUMPUR: There is no need for parents to get police approval to travel interstate or inter-district to send their children back to school, when the session resumes on March 1.

Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said instead, parents are only required to obtain a letter from the respective schools.

He said the decision was reached in the National Security Council's daily meeting after it was discussed with the Health Ministry (MOH), Education Ministry (MOE), and police.

"Parents are required to produce a hostel acceptance letter or letters from the school's teacher to show personnel at the roadblocks and send their children."

He said this directive has been discussed with the highest level in the police force and communicated to the personnel nationwide.

"So I believe there will be no problems with this directive," he said as schools are expected to reopen in stages starting from March 1.

On Friday, the MOE announced the schools reopening schedule to start on March 1 for preschool and Year 1 and 2 students, while students from Year 3 to 6 will start on March 8.

For secondary, Group A (Kedah, Johor, Kelantan, Terengganu) school students will return to school on April 4 while Group B (all other states and Federal Territories) will return to school on April 5.
