Ukrainian man busted at KLIA for carrying 3.7 kilos of cocaine

NILAI: A Ukrainian man was detained with 3.795kg of cocaine worth RM759,000 at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) on Friday.

Customs Department assistant director general (enforcement) Datuk Paddy Abdul Halim said the 22-year-old man was arrested at 6.15am upon arrival at the Passenger Inspection Branch 1, KLIA.

"We seized a bag, which was modified to hide three packages of drugs weighing 3.795 kilograms (kg).

"Initial investigations revealed that the suspect had carried the drugs from Brazil before transiting in Dubai and Malaysia. He had planned to enter Laos from here," he told a press conference today.

He said the suspect has been remanded for seven days and would be investigated under Section 39 (B) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
