Kedah declares April 25 a public holiday

ALOR STAR: The Kedah state government has declared April 25 as replacement public holiday in conjunction with Israk & Mikraj Day, which falls on April 24.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah said the declaration was made following the Federal government’s declaration that April 24 is a public holiday in conjunction with the installation of Sultan Kelantan Sultan Muhammad V as the 15th Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

“Since April 24 is already scheduled as a public holiday in Kedah, we have decided to replace it with another public holiday on April 25,” he told reporters after chairing the state executive council meeting here today.

He thus urged all sectors to adjust accordingly with the announcement.

Sultan Muhammad V was elected as the 15th Yang di-Pertuan Agong to replace Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah who completed his term as the 14th Yang di-Pertuan Agong on Dec 12 last year.
