KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak has expressed his delight over the remarkable progress of three Malaysian explorers on a trek to reach the North Pole.
In his Facebook post, Najib said that Muhammad Muqharabbin Moktharrudin, Mohd Irwan Yusoff Abdullah and Shahrom Abdullah are expected to reach the 90-degree latitude mark way ahead of schedule.
"Alhamdulillah (Praise be to Allah), I was informed that our three explorers are expected to be able to reach the 90 degree North mark five days ahead of schedule, should weather permit.
"Insya-Allah (God willing), together, we pray for their safety and success in completing this mission, bearing the name #Negaraku Malaysia!," he wrote.
In March, the Prime Minister launched the 2017 North Pole Seven Continents Exploration Club Expedition.
The Malaysian trio first left for Oslo, Norway, on April 4 and was based at Longyearbyen, Svalbard Island, for a week to undergo a process of adjustment and final preparation, before leaving for the North Pole on April 13.
