Outraged Pahang MB threatens to sue assemblyman over mall sale claims

KUANTAN: Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Adnan Yaakob has threatened to sue Semambu assemblyman, Lee Chean Chung, over his baseless allegations on the sale of the East Coast Mall (ECM) shopping complex here.

Adnan said he is upset over Lee's claims portraying him as being involved in corrupt practices on the sale of the shopping mall to Singaporean companies.

"I warn the Semambu assemblyman not to spread lies... If you think I am corrupt, report (me) to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission. This is (your) strategy to (create a) false and negative perception. The opposition always spreads lies!

"If you repeat (your) statement outside the (Pahang Legislative Assembly hall)... I will sue you," he said to Lee during the winding-up debate on the royal address at the state assembly sitting today.

Adnan said apart from the Singaporean companies, there are still shareholders from Malaysia in CapitaLand Malaysia Mall Trust – the main investor in ECM.

Lee, a first-term Semambu assemblyman, had recently uploaded a post on Facebook quoting the 2016 state assembly hansard, which read that Adnan had confirmed the sale of ECM to Singaporean entities.
