IPOH: Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir today denied that the state government plans to distribute "Bonus Rakyat 1 Perak Ku" (BR1PK) of RM750, as has been claimed in a viral WhatsApp message and on social media recently.
Zambry dismissed the message as a hoax carried out by irresponsible parties.
He said he has been bombarded by enquiries on the authenticity of the message since it went viral yesterday.
"I have instructed the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM) to investigate the matter and to arrest the culprit," he told reporters after attending a ground-breaking ceremony for SSM’s office building at Basco Avenue, Sungai Senam here, today.
The WhatsApp message claims that RM750 will be disbursed to Perak-born Malaysians, aged between 16 and 55, between now and May 29.
