Galeri Prima makes it into Lonely Planet

KUALA LUMPUR: The New Straits Times Press (M) Sdn Bhd's Galeri Prima has been listed by world famous Lonely Planet, as one of the places to visit in the city.

The world's largest travel guide book publisher described the gallery as a “hidden gem (that) promotes local art heavyweights and emerging names like Zarina Abdullah and Anassuwandi Ahmad, making this exhibition space the one to watch.”

Previously known as the NSTP Art Gallery, it said the newly refurbished Galeri Prima has been relocated to an expansive double-story building, which used to occupy NST’s printing plant.

“The shows peddle a rotating schedule of intriguing art forms (think fauvism or the ancient Islamic khat calligraphy) while revisiting important themes,” pertinent to Malaysia’s history, culture and society,” it wrote.

Galeri Prima is open from 10am to 6pm on weekdays.

It is located at 31, Jalan Riong, 59100 Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
