PBS committed in fight for Sabah people's interest: Party sec-gen

KOTA KINABALU: Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) is consistent with its agenda in standing up for the rights of the people of Sabah, said party’s Secretary General Datuk Johnny Mositun today.

He said this in response to the party’s former secretary general Datuk Henrynus Amin who implied that PBS had deviated from its original objectives and no longer fights for the interest of the Kadazandusun and Murut people.

Henrynus had on Monday made the statement in local dailies after announcing that he had taken up the presidency of Parti Kerjasama Rakyat Sabah (Pakar) and resigned from PBS, which he had been a member since 1986.

Johnny said the party was not surprised by Henrynus’ departure but has yet to receive his resignation letter.

“PBS was founded to oppose the dictatorial Berjaya regime and to stand up for the rights of all Sabahans as equals under the Malaysian sun. That was and still is the main agenda of PBS.

“Henrynus knows our stand on Sabah rights, religious freedom, autonomy, revenues and natural resources, citizenship and illegal immigrants.

“Which of these matters has PBS abandoned or deviated from?,” Johnny said, adding the party, however, would continue to focus on strengthening the party and prepare for the coming general election to defend the BN seats.
