Support Umno's bid to make Malaysia among word's top countries

PUTRAJAYA : Malaysians should support Umno in its effort to make Malaysia among the top countries in the world.

Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said people of all races should put aside their differences to realise the government’s goal to place Malaysia among the top 20 countries.

“Party president Datuk Seri Najib Razak has said that Umno is not a racist party. Our focus is to prioritise the people’s needs and interest.

‘We are also prepared to make a transformation for the generation in the next 30 years (through National Tranformation 2050).

“Our commitment towards place Malaysia among the top 20 countries should be supported by the rakyat from all walks of life,” he told a press conference, today.

He was commenting on yesterday’s Umno 71st anniversary celebration, where Najib, who is prime minister has underscored four factors that hold the key to the success of the party.

The four factors are that it had never deviated from the party’s struggle; giving priority to the people’s interests; remaining relevant with the times; and translating visions into action.

Earlier, the deputy prime minister received a courtesy call from International Organisation for Migration (IOM) Ambassador director-general William Lacy Swing.

Zahid, who is also Home Minister, said IOM recognises Malaysia's efforts to address migrant issues.

He said IOM has also offered two positions to any qualified Malaysians to be IOM officers, either at the IOM headquarters in Geneva or its 500 centres worldwide.
