UPM signs MoU with Perbadanan Putrajaya to green up Putrajaya

SERDANG: Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) is expanding its collaboration with Perbadanan Putrajaya with the involvement of two other faculties and UPM Agriculture Park.

The five-year collaboration aims to turn Putrajaya into a garden and floral city.

UPM Vice Chancellor Professor Datin Paduka Dr Aini Ideris said the partnership between the two bodies in the past (with its Design and Architecture Faculty from 2012 to 2016) saw great success.

“This time, besides involving the forestry and agriculture faculties, we are also partnering with Tunas Nasional Holdings Sdn Bhd to open up a 0.6ha nursery which will employ 20 students.

“This collaboration does not only involve the planting of seasonal flowers but also the study and discovery of seasonal flowers which can be commercialised,” she said in her speech during memorandum of understanding (MoU) signing ceremony at UPM here today.

The ceremony was launched by Federal Territories deputy minister Datuk Dr Loga Bala Mohan.

Loga expressed his appreciation to UPM, Perbadanan Putrajaya and Tunas Nasional Holdings Sdn Bhd for holding the MoU signing ceremony.

“The smart partnership between these bodies comes at the right time, responding to government’s call to make Putrajaya as the pioneer for a green city,” he said.
