Helicopter rides put Langkawi teachers on cloud nine on Teachers' Day

LANGKAWI: A helicopter joyride for just RM10?

It sounds too good to be true, but that was the special price that some 100 teachers here paid for the rare chance to take in Langkawi's beauty from the sky.

In conjunction with Teachers' Day, Langkawi Helioutpost, a company which provides helicopter rides around the island, offered the special price in appreciation of the teaching community here.

The normal minimum price for a ride on a Langkawi Helioutpost chopper is RM170.

A teacher at SK Ayer Hangat, Siti Mawar Rini Said, 32, said she was delighted by the offer and enjoyed the ride thoroughly, even though it was limited to three minutes.

"It (was definitely exciting). I am very happy for the experience of seeing this beautiful island from the helicopter.

Another teacher, Sukri Isa, 45, said he was delighted by the ride and managed to take several pictures while in the sky.

"We must thank Helioutpost for this opportunity. We (teachers) are deeply touched by the company's generous offer, and felt we were appreciated," he said.

Helioutpost chief executive officer Faiz Fahmi Sazali said the undertaking was part of the company's initiative to celebrate teachers in Langkawi.
