KUALA SELANGOR: The drizzle did not stop the cyclists from completing their 35km fun ride and 160km century ride.
As early as 9.15am the 35km ride cyclists started to arrive at the finishing line at the NST C-Cycle Challenge 2017.
Many of them were seen exhausted and taking a breather.
Their family members and friends were checking out booths and food trucks organised as part of the cycling event.
Former classmates of year 1977 from Gajah Berang Melaka, rode together as a form of bonding session during the Fun Ride.
Peter Tan, 57 said the event was all about having fun and bonding with each other while they exercised.
"We're avid cyclists so we hope to join as many cycling events as a group. We are also joined by our teammate’s 17-year-old son today to instil some healthy habit in all of us and the younger generation," said Tan.
Arjunaidi Kailan, 52, from Bursa Malaysia team, said the fun ride was for them to pay tribute to one of his club founding members, who had died earlier this month from a heart failure.
"Our group of 12 all signed up by the end of last month as we were encouraged by our chief executive officer.
"We cycle as often as possible and join any event that is being conducted," he said.
Children were seen taking pictures with Marvel Comic's superheroes such as Spiderman, Hulk and Iron Man.
At the event, activities for families include old-school arcade machines, inflatable futsal pitch, juice bike where visitors can blend their own juice.
There will also be “superheroes” appearance, free bike rent and Volkswagen car display booth where visitors can have a chance to test drive a car.
Eco World head of sales and marketing Tiong Siow Yin said the carnival was to create a sense of belonging to the community.
“We are creating a bond between the residents here and the public who will be our future buyers.
“We call it a community event which promotes unity among our residents and the people in the area,” he said.
