Year 6 student survives fall from 3rd floor

KLANG: A Year 6 pupil survived a fall from the third floor of a primary school building here this morning, just as the weekly assembly was about to start.

The girl was found sprawled on the ground floor at one of the school’s building by a teacher. She sustained a fracture on her neck and injuries to her head in the 7.15am incident.

She was immediately rushed to the nearby Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital.

The girl is reported to be conscious and her condition has been stabilised.

Klang Selatan district police chief Alzafny Ahmad said the girl, who was in her classroom on the third floor, when she told by a prefect to attend the assembly a few minutes before the incident took place.

“She told the prefect that she would go down later. But about two minutes later, a teacher found her on the ground floor. The girl had been absent from school from Wednesday to Friday last week as she had ear pain.

“When she was at home, she told her father that she did not want to go school. It was because she did not get along with the other pupils.

“We have investigated and we found a chair at a corridor opposite the girl’s classroom. She is believed to have climbed on it and jumped from the third floor. So far, we rule out any criminal element,” said Alzafny.
