Indonesian charged with murdering Bangladeshi in Gombak

KUALA LUMPUR: An Indonesian worker was charged in the Selayang magistrate's court yesterday with murdering his workmate from Bangladesh two weeks ago.

Suri, 40, gave a nod of understanding after the charge was read to him before magistrate Iriane Isabelo.

No plea was recorded from the man.

Suri, with another still at large, was charged with murdering Mohammad Ali Ashraf, 28, at the Rapid KL Bus Depot construction site, Jalan Perusahaan Dua, Batu Caves Industrial Area, Gombak, at 11.45pm on May 11.

The father-of-one was charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code which provides for a mandatory death sentence, if convicted.

The prosecution was handled by Deputy Public Prosecutor Khairul Azhwa Yusrie Mohamed, while the accused was not represented.

July 11 was set for remention of the case. – BERNAMA
