Najib condemns deadly Jakarta suicide bombings

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak today condemned the deadly suicide bomb attack at a bus terminal in Kampung Melayu, East Jakarta, last night.

"I am disgusted by last night's attack in Jakarta. Malaysians stand with the Indonesian people at this time," he said via his Twitter and Facebook accounts.

Coming so soon after the appalling Manchester bombing, Najib said this new outrage shows that terrorism has no borders and knows no race or creed.

"My thoughts and prayers are with the loved ones of those affected. Even as the terrorists try to intimidate us, we must not fear them. Each atrocity must harden our resolve. Now more than ever is the time to be united, even as violent extremism seeks to divide us," he added.

Three policemen were killed and five civilians were reported injured in the suspected suicide bombings which saw two blasts occurring within five minutes of each other at about 9pm local time (10pm Malaysian time) yesterday. – BERNAMA
