No M'sian affected by Iran terror attacks; gov't extends condolences

PUTRAJAYA: No Malaysian was affected by yesterday’s terrorist attacks at the Mausoleum of Ayatollah Khomeini and the Parliament building in Tehran.

Nevertheless, the Foreign Ministry said that the Malaysian Embassy in Tehran will continue to monitor the situation.

"The Malaysian government strongly condemns the terrorist attacks which claimed at least 12 innocent lives and wounded others.

“So far, there have been no reports of Malaysians involved in the attacks.

"The government extends its deepest condolences and sympathies to the government and people of Iran, as well as the families of the victims affected by these attacks. The attacks are made more tragic as they took place during the holy month of Ramadan.

"Terrorism is a global scourge and the attacks in Tehran underscore once again the importance for the international community to be united in the fight against it," it said in a statement.

The ministry said in case of emergencies or for more information, Malaysians in Iran can contact the embassy at No.25, 2nd Alley, North Zarafshan St., Eyvanak Blvd, Phase 4, Shahrak Qods, Tehran, Iran; or call 00 98 21 8807 2444/00 98 933 535 2606, or email mwtehran@kln.gov.my.
