RTD boss attributes enforcer job as part of reason why he is under MACC probe

KUALA LANGAT: Datuk Seri Nadzri Siron, who is in the centre of a Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) investigation, said he has been called in twice over the case where he was alleged to have received a RM45,000 golf set as a gift.

The Road Transport Department (RTD) director-general said despite all that, he will continue to give his full cooperation to the anti-graft body and considered being reported for corruption as part and parcel of his job.

He said the Selangor MACC had called him twice - one on Thursday and another on Friday - for questioning.

"Enforcement agencies are highly sensitive government bodies. We enforce the law and possess specific authority. That could be one of the factors (why I was reported and investigated)," he told reporters at the RTD enforcement station at Jalan Klang-Banting today.

Nadzri said he had answered all the questions posed to him by the anti-graft body and had asked his officers to give their fullest cooperation to Selangor MACC if they were called or summoned to assist the investigations.

He said so far, he has yet to be requested to submit anything to the Selangor MACC but the commission had obtained documents and information from his office.

"They have obtained documents and information from my office. Whatever they have asked me, I have answered. I do not know when the investigations is going to wrap up. That is for them to decide," he said.

Nadzri had earlier launched Ops Hari Raya Aidilfitri 2017 (Ops HRA 2017) which will start from tomorrow till July 2.

A total of 3,128 RTD enforcement officers, motorised vehicle inspectors and information technology personnel will be on duty this Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

Some 815 enforcement vehicles will be used throughout Ops HRA 2017, added Nadzri.
