Sulaiman Mahbob now acting FGV chairman, Isa moves to SPAD

PUTRAJAYA: Tan Sri Sulaiman Mahbob is now the acting chairman of Felda Global Ventures Holdings (FGV) Bhd.

He replaces Tan Sri Isa Samad, the previous chairman, effective immediately.

The matter was announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak today.

“I met Isa this morning with (Pemandu chief) Datuk Seri Idris Jala.

“Isa has agreed to relinquish his post (as FGV chairman) voluntarily," he told reporters after handing over mock keys to house owners of the Selasih 1Malaysia Civil Servants Housing Project (PPA1M) at Presint 17.

Najib said Isa has been appointed as chairman of the Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD), effective immediately.

Isa takes over the role from Tan Sri Dr Syed Hamid Syed Jaafar Albar, who retired on June 3.

Rumours surrounding Sulaiman’s impending appointment as FGV chairman had been circulating since morning.

Sulaiman is no stranger to FGV, as he was a non-executive director with the company before his appointment.

The 67-year-old has served the government in various capacities, including as Economic Planning Unit (EPU) director-general, Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs secretary-general, and the Finance Ministry under secretary (Economics).
