27 flood evacuees in Alor Gajah return home on 4th day of Raya

MELAKA: As floodwaters in the state continue to recede, affected victims from Alor Gajah have been allowed to return home on the fourth day of Hari Raya.

Melaka Flood Disaster Management chief secretariat Lieutenant Colonel Effendy Ali said two relief centres – Balairaya Bukit Balai and Balairaya Kampung Pulau – were closed to allow 27 victims from six families to return to their respective homes.

"In the Alor Gajah district, both Balairaya Bukit Balai and Balairaya Kampung Pulau were closed at 2pm today," he said, adding that Balairaya Bukit Tambun was closed at 12pm on Tuesday.

"There is only one relief centre left open in the Jasin district, accommodating 81 victims (from 18 families), which was a decrease from yesterday's 91 victims (from 19 families) at Sekolah Kebangsaan Tehel," he said.

Flood victims currently being accommodated at the Sekolah Kebangsaan Tehel are from Kampung Tanjung Laboh and Kampung Parit Lampong.
