Body of fisherman, missing since Sunday, found in Sungai Selangor

HULU SELANGOR: The body of Johan Jaboi, who was feared drowned in a river near SKC Rasa, was found this evening, four days into the search and rescue (SAR) operation.

Kuala Kubu Baru fire station head Kamil Hamadan said the body was found some 20km away, in Sungai Selangor, from where he was reported missing by a group of fisherman.

“The SAR team was deployed to the scene after receiving information that the body has been found at 7.35pm,” said Kamil.

He said that the team managed to retrieve the body of the victim at around 9.30pm. The body was then sent to the Kuala Kubu Baru Hospital for identification process and post-mortem, he added.

Kamil said the family has identified the body at the hospital and confirmed it was Johan.

A SAR operation was launched immediately on Sunday by firemen, police, and Civil Defence Department after they were alerted of the incident.

Johan, from Kampung Orang Asli Tun Razak, was said to have gone fishing with four friends at 1pm on Sunday. He slipped into the water around 3pm when he tried to free a fishing net which was stuck.
