Azmin should change his name to "Mat Jenin" for wanting to take on Najib in Pekan, says Noh Omar

SHAH ALAM: Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Azmin Ali might as well change his name to “Mat Jenin” if he is thinking about running against Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, in the next general elections.

Selangor Barisan Nasional chairman Tan Sri Noh Omar claimed that the famous character name from popular Malay folklore 'Angan-angan Mat Jenin' suited Azmin well, for being too ambitious.

"I want to tell Azmin that he should go to the National Registration Department and get his name changed to Mat Jenin.

"He is really like the Malay folklore character, who daydreamed about marrying a princess and fell from a coconut tree he was climbing.

"Azmin should look at himself and be ashamed, because all these while, his leadership was not recognised even by his own party PKR.

“They proposed two other people to be the MB instead of him, who was already their deputy president then.

"He only became an MB after his name was proposed by Pas, instead of his own party," he said in a press conference today.

Noh's statement came in response to Azmin's remarks last night. Azmin had said that Noh is not his match, to contest in the next general elections.

He was reported to have said, "My match is Najib. Who is Noh Omar? He is a mere 'cicak mengkarung' (grass lizard)."

The two politicians have been trading barb over the past week since Azmin declared that he would rather go after Pekan parliamentary seat, which has been held Najib consecutively since 1986.

It prompted Noh, to challenge Azmin to contest in his parliamentary seat of Tanjong Karang.

Noh pointed out that the recent 2014 Menteri Besar saga in Selangor was not the first time Azmin was disrespected by his own party.

It started way back in 2008, he said, when PKR proposed Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim to be Selangor MB when the opposition took over Selangor.

"Khalid was only the party treasurer, but PKR chose Khalid instead of Azmin, who was the deputy president and also a Selangor assemblyman.

"This showed that in PKR's view, Azmin was not fit to be the Menteri Besar.

"PKR still did not choose Azmin when they wanted to replace Khalid.

“They had to do the ‘Kajang Move’ and sacrifice the then incumbent PKR Kajang assemblyman (Lee Chin Cheh) before naming Wan Azizah as candidate," said Noh.
