Najib attends TNB Hari Raya do, says company a world-class organisation

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak today paid tribute to Tenaga Nasional Bhd's (TNB) success in penetrating into the world market and described the utility company as a world-class organisation.

Speaking at TNB's Majlis Mesra Aidilfitri open house today, he said he was proud by the company's achievements and expansion to Turkey, India, United Kingdom and Saudi Arabia.

"This proves that what TNB has been doing is correct and accurate.

"TNB is strong regionally and internationally, the power house - literally a power house - has been recognised," he said in his speech in front of more than 2,500 guests and TNB staff.

Najib also labelled TNB as an 'Infra Rakyat' (people-centric) facility.

"This morning, I launched the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) Sungai Buloh-Kajang line, which I have declared as 'Infra Rakyat'.

"I also consider TNB as part of 'Infra Rakyat'... (because) It plays an important part of our daily lives," he said.

Najib also congratulated TNB for being ranked 24th on the Finance's Top 50 Global Utility 2017 list.

The list, which was announced in March, saw TNB jumping 15 steps ahead from the previous year where they came in at the 39th spot.

"This achievement means what TNB has been doing recently has brought great results.

"We must innovate, always reinvent ourselves and always look at our strength and weaknesses... How to improve our performance as a TNB staff and the organisation." he said.
