PEKAN: Old but gold perfectly describes sexagenarian Abdul Hamid Arif, who finished a 21-kilometre run in two hours.

The spritely 68-year-old was seen sprinting past the finishing line along with younger participants during the UDA Bridge Run 2017 at Pekan District Council here this morning.

The retired army technician also actively participate in other running events such as duathlons, and managed to clinch some placings.

When asked on how he maintains his health and fitness even at such an age, he laughed before sharing a few tips.

"First, you must have passion and consistently train. For half and full marathons, I would usually train nine weeks before the events.

"Next, one must practice a healthy diet and consume supplements since young.

"On running, make sure you are full of positive thoughts. It is not just about your physical strength but also your mental strength. Stay positive!" he beamed.

Hamid, who hailed from Indera Mahkota 2, Kuantan, was among the 4,000-plus participants of this year's edition of the run organised by UDA Holdings Bhd.
