GELANG PATAH: Country Garden Pacificview Sdn Bhd (CGPV), the developer of Forest City, will invest about RM2.6 billion to build an industrial building system (IBS) factory comprising six facilities.

Once completed, it will be the largest IBS factory in the world.

CGPV executive director Datuk Md Othman Yusof said the first phase of the project involves construction of three facilities, with the first facility already completed and fully operational.

"We have invested RM470 million to build the first facility, which is equipped with the latest technology and modern machinery from Italy, Germany and China.

"The factory will produce 260,000 cubic metres of material that will cover one million square metres of built area annually," said Othman in his speech at the launch of the facility.

Also present at the event were state Tourism and Domestic Trade and Consumerism Executive Committee chairman Datuk Tee Siew Kiong, Country Garden Holdings Ltd chief executive officer Mo Bin and CGPV chief executive officer Su Baiyuan.

Othman also said that the establishment of the facility has generated transfer of knowledge and created employment opportunities for locals.

"The (facility employs a staff) of 201, 90 per cent of whom are locals. I am very pleased to see that the spill-over of our development is already being enjoyed by local communities," said Othman.
