Promotions for four MMEA officers announced

PUTRAJAYA: The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) today announced the promotions and transfers of four senior officers.

MMEA deputy director-general (logistics) Datuk Mohd Taha Ibrahim is now deputy director-general (operations) and promoted to vice admiral.

The Segamat-born 59-year-old has been serving MMEA since June, 2006, following an almost 30-year career in the Royal Malaysian Navy.

Taking over Taha’s post is MMEA Criminal Investigation Branch director Datuk Tan Kok Kwee, who has been promoted to rear admiral.

Born in Seremban, the 57-year-old joined the agency in July 2005. Tan had worked with the Customs Department for 23 years prior to that.

Meanwhile, Sabah and Labuan maritime director Mohd Zubil Mat Som has been promoted to rear admiral. The 54-year-old from Lenggong in Perak joined the agency in 2006 after serving RMN for 25 years.

Langkawi maritime deputy director (operations) R. Vincent has been promoted to the rank of captain and will now serve as an operations officer in the Maritime Enforcement Division of the Eastern Sabah Security Command based in Lahad Datu.

All four had their new ranks pinned on them by MMEA director-general Admiral Datuk Zulkifli Abu Bakar at the agency’s headquarters today.

Also present was MMEA deputy director-general (management) Datuk Abdul Rahman Mohammad.
