Tony Fernandes announces AirAsia Indonesia's new independent director via Instagram

KUALA LUMPUR: The sky is definitely not the limit for Indonesian film star, Raline Shah who was just appointed as AirAsia Indonesia’s independent director.

The appointment of the 32-year old actress, who is of Malay-Indonesian heritage, was announced by Airasia’s chief executive officer, Tony Fernandes on his Instagram account.

“Our new director in Airasia Indonesia @ralineshah. Smart, creative, humble. A real coup readying our company for IPO (initial public offering),” Tony posted on Monday.

Again on his Instagram, he confirmed yesterday of her position as the independent director.

“Diversity has always been our mantra,” he said.

Raline, a political science graduate from National University of Singapore, has acted in several Indonesian movies including Surga yang Tak Dirindukan, 99 Cahaya di Langit Eropa and 5cm.

Prior to her acting career, she gained popularity after taking part in the 2008 Putri Indonesia pageant, where she was voted as the favourite contestant.
