Fake liquor plant in Puchong busted

SHAH ALAM: The Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry seized RM16,557 worth of contraband liquors and other items used in the manufacturing of the product during its Ops APD on Wednesday.

Selangor KPDNKK enforcement chief Azman Adam said following a tip-off, the enforcement team raided a house in Jalan Puteri 10/9, Bandar Puteri, Puchong, which had been converted into a mini liqour processing plant. They used discarded original branded liquor bottles to repackage fake liquour.

“There were no occupants in the house during the raid,” he said.

“Our team seized bottles of fake liquors, empty bottles, processing tools, fake liquor brand stickers, boxes and labels of various alcohol brands.

“The items seized were sent to the ministry’s store in Bukit Raja. A police report was also filed. The case has been registered under the Trade Description Act 2011,” he said in a statement today.

Azman said another team of enforcement officers confiscated 20 bottles of liquors worth RM3,900 believed to be contraband and several other items related to the case.

The case, he said, was being investigated under Section 8 (2) (C) of the Trade Descriptions Act 2011 for prohibition of false trade description in relation to trademark.
