Asean's golden anniversary celebration to be held at KLCC tomorrow

KUALA LUMPUR: A showcase celebrating the 50th anniversary of Asean will be held at the Suria KLCC shopping centre on Aug 14.

“Asean Day: 50th Anniversary Celebration” will feature a range of activities, including cultural performances, interactive sessions, quizzes, panel discussions and talks.

The event, which aims to promote a greater awareness of Asean among Malaysians, will see the participation of all Asean embassies in Kuala Lumpur.

Other ministries and offices participating in the event are the National Department for Culture and Art, the Tourism and Culture Ministry, the International Trade and Industry Ministry, Pos Malaysia and Suria KLCC.

Asean (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) was formed on Aug 8, 1967 and comprises 10 member countries, namely Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, Singapore, Brunei, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and Myanmar. -- BERNAMA
