ALOR STAR: A man's selfless act of climbing down a monsoon drain to rescue his grandchild's exercise book has drawn a collective 'awww' from netizens.
The pictures, which have since gone viral online, show a man almost entirely inside a monsoon drain, with a child's school exercise book in his hand.
Based on a short description on the pictures, the picture was taken at a school in Alor Star yesterday. The man in the picture had reportedly gone to the school to fetch his grandchild in the afternoon.
However, the grandchild had accidently dropped a book into the drain just outside the school entrance.
The devoted grandfather had apparently gone back to his home and returned to the school shortly after, with a ladder.
He had removed the drain cover and scaled down the ladder to retrieve the book, as school children looked on.
The pictures of the elderly man flipping through the soaked book went viral on social media yesterday evening.
The man's action had earned praises from netizens who were touched by his dedication towards his grandson.
