Quran will provide answers, solutions to worldly problems, Mapim tells Muslims

KUALA LUMPUR: There is an urgent need to remind and educate Muslims on the importance of the Quran in their everyday lives, said Malaysia Islamic Organisations Consultative Council (Mapim) president Mohd Azmi Abdul Hamid.

He said this is because the Quran, as a revelation from Allah, is able to provide answers and solutions to the many problems and crisis faced by mankind today.

"Mankind today is facing a myriad of crisis, and it seems that we are unable find the solution for them.

"As Muslims, we understand that the holy book will be able to provide us, not just the Muslims but also the entire human race, the answers and solutions to the problems we are facing today, if only we do not just read, but also understand and practice its teachings," he said.

Mapim, which serve as a platform to coordinate and facilitate efforts to enhance the effectiveness of Islamic organisations and activists in the country, is among the co-organiser of the World #QuranHour programme which is set to take place at various locations worldwide on Aug 31.

Mohd Azmi said Mapim will continue to support the World #QuranHour programme, which was initiated by Warisan Ummah Ikhlas Foundation, to continue reminding and educating the Muslims on the importance of the holy book.

He added that Mapim, through its network overseas, has so far managed to get the World #QuranHour programme be organised in Singapore, Jakarta, Thai cities of Bangkok and Pattani, Istanbul and Sheffield in the United Kingdom.

He also said that its members of 200 Islamic NGOs in Malaysia are also contributing in efforts of holding community-level World #QuranHour programme.

Meanwhile, Warisan Ummah Ikhlas Foundation chief executive officer Marhaini Yusoff said among the main locations selected for the event include Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Mosque at the International Islamic University of Malaysia (UIAM); Al-Muhtadin Mosque of Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) in Damansara Damai, Kolej Universiti Islam Pahang Sultan Ahmad Shah (KUIPSAS) Mosque in Kuantan, Sultan Iskandar Mosque in Bandar Dato' Onn, Johor Baru; Crystal Mosque in Taman Tamadun Islam, Kuala Terengganu; Melaka Chinese Mosque and Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka in Kuching, Sarawak.
