Works Ministry to repair the damaged Bandar Springhill mosque soon

PORT DICKSON: The Works Ministry will repair part of the damaged ceiling panel at the Bandar Springhill mosque as soon as possible.

Public Works Department director general Datuk Seri Dr Roslan Md Taha said the roof structure and the dome of the mosque which was built in 2012 will also be strengthened as the mosque is located on top of a hill which is exposed to strong gusts of wind.

"We will seek advice from the Meteorological Services department to find out the wind pattern so that we can zero in at which part of the roof which needs to be consolidated against the wind," Roslan told New Straits Times after holding a meeting with the mosque's committee members late yesterday.

In the 6.10am incident yesterday, some 50 worshippers who were performing their Subuh prayers had a close shave when parts of the ceiling panel rained down on but luckily there were no injuries.

Roslan said the mosque will be closed for three weeks to facilitate repair works and residents can perform their Friday prayers at a multi-purpose hall situated next to the mosque.
