Sultan Ibrahim decrees he is to be addressed as 'His Majesty'

JOHOR BARU: Sultan of Johor Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar today decreed to change his honorific title of “His Royal Highness” to “His Majesty”.

Johor Council of the Royal Court president Datuk Abdul Rahim Ramli said the decree was made based on the privileges, power and authority vested in him under Article 7(2)(d)(f) and (g) of the Second Part of the Johor State Constitution of 1895.

“His Majesty has graciously consented Her Royal Highness the Permaisuri Johor Raja Zarith Sofiah Sultan Idris Shah be addressed as ‘Her Majesty’.

“The Malay form of address ‘Duli Yang Maha Mulia’ for the Sultan and Permaisuri remains unchanged,” Rahim said in a statement today.

He said with effect from today, the official forms of address for the Sultan are as follows: His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar, Sultan and Sovereign Ruler of the State and Territory of Johor Darul Ta’zim; His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, Sultan of Johor; His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim of Johor; or, His Majesty the Sultan of Johor.

The official forms of address for the Permaisuri Johor are as follows: Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah Binti Almarhum Sultan Idris Shah, Permaisuri Johor; Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah, Permaisuri Johor; or Her Majesty The Permaisuri of Johor.
