More than 10,000 runners take part in Seremban half marathon

SEREMBAN: More than 10,000 runners took part in Seremban's 30th half marathon this morning, which is said to be the country's oldest half marathon since 1987.

Participants gathered as early as 5am before they were flagged off by Negri Sembilan's Tunku Laksmana Tunku Naquiyuddin Tuanku Jaafar at 6am.

The run commenced from the Majlis Perbandaran Seremban's field which is in the middle of Seremban town and will cover Forest Heights, Paroi, Ampangan, Lake Gardens area, and back to the Majlis Perbandaran Seremban's field.

There are several categories for the 21km run which include adults for men and women and other categories for school children, between 13 and 18 years old covering a distance of 10km.

There are also categories for disabled people as well as for those who require special needs.

There are no international runners for the half marathon.

Winners are awarded with cash prizes, medals and certificates.

The half marathon is organised by Negeri Sembilan Amateur Atheletics Association, Seremban City Council and Syarikat Pesaka Antah.

The marathon is sponsored by Matrix Concepts Bhd, Forest Heights and Tint Shop.
