The Johor ruler uploaded on Facebook a black and white photograph of the late Kedah Sultan wearing his official royal wardrobe during his reign as the Yang Di-Pertuan Agong.

“Al-Fatihah. Solemn wishes for the Sultan of Kedah Darul Aman, Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah Ibni Almarhum Sultan Badlishah (November 28, 1927-September 11, 2017) from His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar and Raja Zarith Sofiah Binti Almarhum Sultan Idris Shah,” said the message that was uploaded.

Sultan Ibrahim also decreed that all Johor flags throughout the state be flown at half-mast tomorrow to mourn the passing of Sultan Abdul Halim. This was announced through the Johor Southern Tigers Facebook page tonight.

Meanwhile, Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin represented the state government and its people in conveying condolences to Sultan Abdul Halim’s family.

“His death is a great loss not only for Kedah, but for all Malaysians, because we lost a ruler who always had the people’s interests at heart. Almarhum Sultan Abdul Halim contributed a lot during his reign as the Sultan of Kedah and his reign as the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

“He is the only Malay ruler who has been the Yang di-Pertuan Agong twice and he played a big role in the country’s history. May his soul be blessed by Allah S.W.T and placed among His most beloved servants. Al Fatihah,” Khaled said in a statement.
