KOTA KINABALU: The Federal Territory Islamic Religious Council (MAIWP) will provide funding and assistance for the burial of the victims who perished in the fire that engulfed a religious school in Kuala Lumpur this morning.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom said this after contacting the council on the matter.
He said the government will also review safety measures at schools following the tragedy, which claimed at least 24 lives.
“I cannot elaborate further as I need to get a clearer picture and visit the tahfiz school later today,” he said after launching a dialogue event at Universiti Malaysia Sabah here today.
“What happened may be beyond our control but we need to see what can be rectified following this incident.”
