KUALA LUMPUR: The Council of Churches of Malaysia today sent its prayers to victims and families of the Darul Quran Ittifaqiyah tahfiz school fire, which claimed the lives of 21 students and two wardens this morning.
Its general-secretary Reverend Dr Hermen Shastri said the Council joins all Malaysians in expressing great sorrow for the victims of the blaze, which gutted the school.
“The churches wish to convey our deepest sympathies and hold in our prayers the families that are affected.
“We also appeal to the authorities to ensure that all schools and charity homes comply strictly with safety regulations and have regular fire drills,” he added.
