'Adopt National Tahfiz Policy' - Raja Muda of Perlis tells tahfiz schools in Perlis

KANGAR: Raja Muda of Perlis Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail urged all tahfiz school management in the state to adopt the National Tahfiz Policy to provide a conducive and safe learning environment for the students.

Tuanku Syed Faizuddin, who is also Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPs) president, expressed hope that tahfiz students and school staff would be equipped with adequate training to prepare for emergency situations such as fire, flood and natural disaster.

"I hope no more tragic incident such as bullying, fight or negligence which can harm innocent lives occurs at tahfiz schools," he said at cycling programme of “Kayuhan Maal Hijrah 1439H” and “Kayuhan MAIPs Peduli’ at Madrasah Miftahul Hidayah, Beseri.

Also taking part in the cycling programme were Perlis mufti Datuk Dr Mohd Asri Zainul Abidin and MAIPs chief executive officer Mohd Nazim Mohd Noor.

Tuanku Syed Faizuddin added that the Perlis Islamic Affairs Department was now formulating an accreditation system for tahfiz institutions in Perlis.

He said the system would gauge the level of compliance of the tahfiz schools with standards set by the government.

"I hope tahfiz schools in Perlis will set as an example to other schools in terms of management, administration, curriculum, employability as well as environmental aspects.

"To achieve the goals, it is vital that religious schools are run professionally and in safe and conducive environment.

"One should also look into the aspects of curriculum and infrastructure to ensure the welfare of the students is looked into," he said.

He also urged the society to lend its support to ensure that religious schools could keep up with the changes in the education system.
