SERDANG: The National Farmers Association (Nafas) pledged its support to the Barisan Nasional government and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.
Its chairman Datuk Seri Saipolbahari Shuib said he was representing 1.2 million of his members from the farming and fishing sector nationwide in pledging the support.
"From then till now, we would like to state our full support to the Barisan Nasional government under the leadership of Datuk Seri Najib.
"Your (Najib) support to us will not be wasted," he said in his speech at the National Farmers and Fishermen Day 2017 at the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park in Serdang today.
Saipolbahari praised the prime minister for the contributions he has made, which had benefitted farmers and fishermen alike.
He listed down the contributions they received including subsidies for their farm, diesel and petrol as well as monthly living allowances as among the benefit they gained.
"For every hectare of paddy, we received a subsidy RM2,000 as well as petrol and diesel subsidies.
"We have also not forgotten the assistance we got during natural disasters and the welfare for the fishermen, and also the RM300 monthly allowance.
"Not forgetting the subsidies for purchase paddy seeds and pesticides.
"We get this and we get that, all thanks to the government led by our leader Datuk Seri Najib... We give our support to you," he said, adding that the association was able to give dividends to their shareholders worth RM7,704,525.65 million.
