Malaysia condemns mass shooting in Las Vegas

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia strongly condemns the shooting incident in Las Vegas, Nevada which occurred late Sunday.

The mass shooting killed at least 59 people and injured 515 others.

“The government of Malaysia extends its deepest condolence to the government and people of the United States of America, and especially to the families of the victims,” a statement issued by the Foreign Ministry said.

“Early reports from Malaysian consulate-general in Los Angeles indicate that no Malaysian are involved in the incident. The consulate-general is working closely with the local authorities to gather updates on the incident.

A gunman killed at least 59 people and wounded more than 500 people when he opened fire on a country music concert in Las Vegas late Sunday.

Authorities have identified 64-year-old Stephen Paddock, who was armed with more than 10 rifles, as the man responsible for the mass shooting at a crowd of over 20,000 people.
