PARIS: Sarawak Chief Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Abang Openg and his entourage, who are on a two-week long study tour to Europe, made a stop at the a French multinational software and scientific company based here on Thursday.
During the visit to Dassault Systèmes, the Sarawakian delegation were briefed by key officials of the company on its background, products and operations.
Dassault Systèmes develops 3D design, 3D digital mock-ups, and product lifecycle management software with clients worldwide.
“The chief minister, who was accompanied by State Secretary Tan Sri Mohamad Morshidi Abdul Ghani, was given demonstrations on 3D simulations for certain project solutions,” said the Chief Minister’s Office in a statement.
In his short address to thank the company for receiving his delegation, the chief minister said that 3D technology could prove useful for Sarawak to prepare customised time and cost-saving solutions to minimise environmental pollution, develop models to harness its renewable energy resources, improve its public transportation and raw materials collection and use, especially for production of zero-emission fuels.
The chief minister and his delegation had been on a tour of Finland, Estonia and Germany prior to their stopover in Paris, with a mission to gain insight into policies, explore new technologies and create platforms for collaboration in Sarawak’s quest towards digitising its economy.
“Of particular interest to the Chief Minister was the success of Estonia, a former Russian territory, in transforming itself into a digital economy in a relatively short period of time and Germany’s zero-emission fuel technology ,” said the statement.
Members of his delegation included Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Awang Tengah Ali Hassan, Assistant State Minister for Urban Planning, Land Administration and Environment, Datu Haji Len Talif Salleh, Sarawak Economic Development Corporation chairman Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Hussain and other key government officers.
