BUTTERWORTH: Eight shophouses have been razed in an ongoing fire at Jalan Bagan Luar here.
The Fire and Rescue Department received a distress call on the incident at about 10.55am, and a 17-man team led by operations commander Mohd Khalil Abdul Rahim arrived minutes later.
The team have managed to control the blaze, and have yet to completely douse it.
The source and cause of the blaze has yet to be ascertained.
“Almost 70 per cent of (all the shophouses) were gutted. But there are no victims," the Department said in a press statement.
It will take several more hours before the forensics team can investigate the scene.
